Superb example of a late-19th Century British Army officer’s courtsword complete with rarely found sword knot. With decorative gilt-brass shell guard hilt topped with crown pommel. Victorian royal cypher attached to shell guard. Silver twistwire to the grip. Bullion wire British Army officer’s sword knot attached to hilt guard – these 19th Century army sword knots are quite scarce and tend to be sold alone for upwards of £50-80 each, sometimes more depending on condition. The etched blade is profusively decorated with royal cypher, crown crossed lances and ferns – extremely clean condition. Complete with gilt-brass mounted leather scabbard – great piece. Blade length is 32 inches (32.5 inches overall).

Excellent example of a late-17th Century English hunting/naval officer’s hanger. With typical staghorn grip and brass-mounted hilt featuring a decorated pommel and shellguard. The double-edged blade features a King’s head stamp to each side of the blade indicating that it is likely that this blade was German (Solingen) made and imported into England where the hilt and blade would have been fitted together. The King’s head stamp was used by the famous Wundes German sword making family and this blade is likely to be one of theirs. In very good condition for its age – both hilt and blade are solid with no movement. Blade length is 19.5 inches (24 inches overall).

An unusual British c.1790 Infantry Officer’s Sword. Is in the style of a contemporary cavalry sword but the blade length would probably indicate use by a foot officer. With brass hilt and ribbed leather grip. Blade is engraved with the name “PULHAM” to both sides of the blade forte. The name is not known to me as sword cutler or retailer so it might be the owner of the sword. Blade is also engraved with the royal coat of arms and scrolling foliage. Complete with original brass and leather mounted scabbard. Blade length is 26 inches (31 inches overall).

A very interesting and important Islamic axe or polearm. With deeply inlaid brass decoration, including Islamic texts. Probably 19th Century Sudanese/Mahdist. Am not sure if this was an axe or polearm or some other kind of weapon or ceremonial piece. Is a very impressive piece in the hand and worthy of further research and serious study. Height is 20.5 inches and the width is 11 inches.
